Undergraduate Summer Research Internships
Our undergraduate summer internships allow you to discover the world of research. You will put your knowledge into practice. You will participate in innovative and exciting research projects within an interdisciplinary team.
Our undergraduate summer research internships are intended for students who have completed at least one year of study in an undergraduate natural sciences, engineering, health sciences, or social sciences program.
Research eligible fields

Environmental science and geoscience
Agronomy, biology, chemistry, ecology, engineering (aerospace, civil, chemical, water, geological, computer, mechanical, physical), physical geography, geology, geomatics, information technology, mathematics, physics, statistics.
Internships take place at Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre (Québec).

Advanced technology
Physics and physical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, optics and photonics, material sciences and engineering, mathematics, and applied mathematics.
Internships take place at Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre (Varennes and Montreal).

Health sciences
Bacteriology, biochemistry, biology, cellular biology , molecular biology, biotechnology, chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, entomology, epidemiology, immunology, veterinary microbiology, neurobiology, parasitology, pharmacology, food safety, animal health, food sciences, toxicology, virology.
Internships take place at Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre (Laval).

Social sciences
Anthropology, communication, economy, geography, history, information studies, political science, population studies, Quebec studies, sociology, urban studies.
Internships take place at Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre (Quebec City and Montreal).
General Information
Lenght of internship
10 to 16 weeks
Funding
Summer interns are paid a salary.
Some interns will be eligible for one or more of the following scholarship programs (in French): INRS, NSERC, Armand-Frappier Foundation, Urbanisation Culture Société.













An undergraduate summer research internship is a unique opportunity to discover whether the world of research is for you!
Eligibility requirements
- Completion of at least one year of study in an undergraduate program prior to the start of the natural science, engineering, health science, or social science internship.
- An academic record that would allow you to be accepted into graduate school at a Quebec university. A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 out of 4.3 or equivalent is usually required.
Documents required
You can submit your application using the online form. Please attach the following documents:
- A letter of intent mentioning the work, courses, and/or experiences motivating you to join a research team at the INRS centre where you want to do your summer internship
- Your resume
- Your official, up-to-date transcript for the university terms you have completed If your transcript does not include the winter 2021 term, proof of enrollment is required for that term.
