INRS-UQAR Joint Research Unit in Digital Transformation in Support of Regional Development
Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) and Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR) are launching a joint research unit (UMR) in digital transformation to bolster regional development.
INRS and UQAR are setting up a digital transformation joint research unit dedicated to examining how best to diversity and integrate digital technologies in a variety of sectors (such as education, culture, business, green technology, manufacturing, and health) to support the social, cultural, and economic development of regions. By furthering and transferring knowledge and by training qualified new workers, the INRS-UQAR joint research unit will spur the use of digital technology and help regional communities harness the potential and opportunities this new digital age will bring for their development.
This UMR will bring national and international leadership in the area of digital transformation to support regional development and provide communities east of Québec City with a deep pool of new scientific expertise in this strategic field of priority interest to Québec.
Development of the INRS-UQAR Joint Research Unit in Digital Transformation in Support of Regional Development was made possible thanks to initial funding of $3 million from the Government of Québec.
This funding by Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur will make it possible to create three professorships at INRS.
These professors will work as part of the UMR from UQAR’s Rimouski campus. The UMR’s mission is to conduct multidisciplinary graduate-level research and educational activities.
