Therapeutic strategies involving monoclonal antibodies are increasingly prevalent. The desire to reduce the cost of these drugs is exerting considerable pressure to make the manufacturing process more efficient and cost effective. Presently, purification of the antibody from the production medium has become a major process bottleneck. Another major bottleneck for scaling-up the manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies is the high viscosity of their solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gauthier group is looking to strategically hire 2 PhD students and 2 postdocs to work on these important challenges. The Gauthier group is housed at the \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre<\/a>, approx. 25 km from vibrant downtown Montreal. INRS has been consistently recognized by Research Info$ource as the #1 or #2 university in Canada for research intensity, which is an important yet indirect indicator of the quality of its research programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All students are entitled to receive financial support during their graduate studies. Furthermore, the group offers generous stipend \u201ctop-ups\u201d for externally-funded students and postdocs (i.e., scholarship holders).<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Candidates with backgrounds in chemistry, biochemistry, bio-conjugate chemistry, polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical science, analytical chemistry, or physical chemistry are most suited for the foreseen projects. However, candidates with other backgrounds will be considered. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage in research in both academic and industrial environments. Stipends are competitive and performance-incentives (bonuses) are possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
