{"id":45493,"date":"2010-11-11T14:42:50","date_gmt":"2010-11-11T19:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/?p=45493"},"modified":"2021-02-05T14:43:12","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T19:43:12","slug":"professor-federico-rosei-receives-a-2010-friedrich-wilhelm-bessel-research-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/news\/professor-federico-rosei-receives-a-2010-friedrich-wilhelm-bessel-research-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Federico Rosei receives a 2010 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:clamp(14px, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.602), 19px);px\"><strong>Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/federico-rosei\/\">Federico Rosei<\/a> of the INRS <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/energie-materiaux-telecommunications-research-centre-awarded-grants-for\/\">Energy Materials Telecommunications Research Center<\/a> has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/web\/bessel-award.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award <\/a>given by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The foundation grants 25 of these awards annually to young, high level researchers around the world. Professor Rosei was selected in recognition of the caliber and scope of his research in the field of nanomaterials.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This honor will allow him to start collaborating with researchers at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpg.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Max Planck Institute<\/a> in Stuttgart and other German research teams on the cutting edge of nanotechnology. In the years ahead, Professor Rosei will work with his German colleagues to study self-assembly in surface molecules\u2014one of the key concepts of nanotechnology\u2014to develop new materials used for electronics, energy applications, and in the life sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Rosei currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Nanostructured Organic and Inorganic Materials. He has solid expertise in the fabrication, processing, and characterization of these materials. His team is currently composed of 11 doctoral students and 9 postdoctoral fellows. Since 2000, he has published over 100 articles in prestigious international journals including <em>Science<\/em>, <em>Nature Chemistry<\/em>, <em>Nature Nanotechnology<\/em>, and <em>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences<\/em>. He has also been an invited speaker at over 100 conferences in 33 countries on all five continents.
