{"id":45213,"date":"2012-12-03T17:46:19","date_gmt":"2012-12-03T22:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/?p=45213"},"modified":"2021-02-04T17:46:33","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T22:46:33","slug":"professor-federico-rosei-elected-aaas-fellow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/news\/professor-federico-rosei-elected-aaas-fellow\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Federico Rosei elected AAAS Fellow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emt.dev.inrs.ca\/federico-rosei\"><\/a>In recognition of his meritorious efforts to advance science, Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/federico-rosei\/\">Federico Rosei<\/a>, Director of the INRS Energy Materials Telecommunications Research Centre, was elected as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/aboutaaas\/fellows\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Fellow<\/a> by his peers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Association for the Advancement of Science<\/a> (AAAS). In particular, his outstanding contribution to the understanding of the physical and chemical properties of surfaces and interfaces was recognized. Dr. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/federico-rosei\">Rosei<\/a> will receive this prestigious honour at the induction ceremony for new Fellows on February 16, 2013, in Boston at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">AAAS<\/a> Annual Meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remarkably, Dr. Rosei is the only Canadian honoured by the A<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/\" class=\"broken_link\">AAS <\/a>in the physics section, which accounts for 49 of a total of 702 candidates elected to 24 sections for 2012.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am very pleased about Professor Federico Rosei\u2019s election as an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/aboutaaas\/fellows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">AAAS Fellow<\/a>. This is a testament to the high level of scientific credibility he enjoys among his peers. This prestigious international recognition also reflects Dr. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/federico-rosei\">Rosei<\/a>\u2019s important contribution to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in the field of advanced materials and nanotechnology\u2014a priority research field at our university,\u201d said INRS director general <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/universite\/directions-services\/direction-generale\" class=\"broken_link\">Daniel Coderre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Nanostructured Organic and Inorganic Material, Professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/federico-rosei\">Rosei<\/a> is an international calibre researcher who is known for his innovative work that has spawned technological spinoffs in the nanoscience field. His remarkable scientific contributions have already earned him the 2011 <a href=\"http:\/\/rsc-src.ca\/en\/institutional-members\/medals-awards\/rsc-medals-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Rutherford Memorial Medal <\/a>for Chemistry from the <a href=\"http:\/\/rsc-src.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Royal Society of Canada<\/a>, the 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/web\/bessel-award.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award<\/a> from the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/web\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"> Alexander von Humboldt Foundation<\/a>, as well an appointment as a Fellow at the United Kingdom\u2019s Institute of Physics, Royal Society of Chemistry, Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, Institution of Engineering and Technology, and Institute of Nanotechnology.
