{"id":44978,"date":"2013-03-20T21:30:10","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T01:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/?p=44978"},"modified":"2021-02-03T21:30:42","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T02:30:42","slug":"launch-of-the-international-institute-of-aquarespnsible-municipalities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/news\/launch-of-the-international-institute-of-aquarespnsible-municipalities\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of the International Institute of Aquarespnsible Municipalities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Daniel Coderre, INRS Director General, and \u00c9ric Bauce, Executive Vice-rector, Development, at Universit\u00e9 Laval took part in the launch of the <a href=\"http:\/\/2iam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">International Institute of Aquaresponsible Municipalities (iiAm)<\/a>&nbsp;on March 20, 2013, at <a href=\"http:\/\/congresmtl.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palais des congr\u00e8s de Montr\u00e9al<\/a> during <a href=\"http:\/\/americana.org\/Home?switchLang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Americana 2013<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reseau-environnement.com\/fr\/evenements\/salon-international-des-technologies-environnementales-americana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">international environmental technology trade show<\/a>. The result of an INRS\u2013<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ulaval.ca\/en\/future-students.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Universit\u00e9 Laval<\/a> partnership, <a href=\"http:\/\/2iam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">iiAm <\/a>makes its expertise available to cities and municipalities seeking aquaresponsible certification through an, independent audit of their water department and water resources practices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A not-for-profit organization, iiAm fills a genuine need by providing municipalities with a recognized tool to analyze their water management performance and efficacy. Aquaresponsability covers all the steps municipalities must take to implement an integrated water management approach ensuring that water resources are protected, sustainable, shared, and fairly used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWater management is a complex issue that requires specialized scientific and technical knowledge,\u201d said Daniel Coderre. \u201cINRS and Universit\u00e9 Laval research have contributed for many years to the development of water science knowledge and know-how. iiAm is based on the pooling of our complementary competencies, to support municipalities here and around the world as they adopt innovative best practices for the integrated management of their \u2018blue gold\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUniversit\u00e9 Laval is proud to be putting its water management expertise to work in this way,\u201d said \u00c9ric Bauce. \u201cWe applaud the creation of iiAm which, by conducting comprehensive audits of city water management practices, will help make municipal aquaresponsability an important aspect of sustainable development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Qu\u00e9bec City, iiAm\u2019s areas of interest span potable water, wastewater, and receiving environments, as well as water management and efficacy.
