This is the first time that an INRS physicist has received this distinction.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the medal, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cap.ca\/medal\/publicity\/press.php?year=2013&amp;medal_id=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">CAP<\/a> acknowledges the importance of Professor Rosei\u2019s innovative and interdisciplinary research in the field of nanomaterials and his role as a mentor for hundreds of young scientists. Introduced in 1970, this prize will be awarded during CAP\u2019s annual congress, taking place in Montreal from May 27 to 31, 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI feel truly privileged and honoured to receive this medal from the Canadian Association of Physicists. I owe this success to the excellent research fellows and collaborators with whom I had the pleasure of working and to my mentors, who always supported and encouraged me,\u201d the award winner said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A world-renowned researcher and Canada Research Chair in nanostructured organic and inorganic materials, Professor Rosei has paved the way for new discoveries and applications by providing new insights into structure\/property relationships of several classes of advanced materials. His research team has also developed new strategies for fabricating, processing, and characterizing nanomaterials, including biocompatible materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Rosei\u2019s outstanding scientific contribution is widely recognized and has garnered a number of awards. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cap.ca\/medal\/publicity\/press.php?year=2013&amp;medal_id=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">The Herzberg Medal<\/a> follows the<a href=\"http:\/\/rsc-src.ca\/en\/fellows\/medals-awards\/rsc-medals-awards#Rutherford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"> 2011 Rutherford Memorial Medal in Chemistry<\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/rsc-src.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Royal Society of Canada<\/a>. He is also the recipient of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/web\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Alexander von Humboldt Foundation<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/web\/bessel-award.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">2010 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award <\/a>and is a fellow of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">American Association for the Advancement of Science<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iop.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Institute of Physics<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Royal Society of Chemistry<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iom3.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theiet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institution of Engineering and Technology<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nano.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.K. Institute of Nanotechnology<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eic-ici.ca\/index_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Engineering Institute of Canada<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aip.org.au\/info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Australian Institute of Physics<\/a>.
