In awarding him this prestigious prize, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.consejoculturalmundial.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Cultural Council<\/a>&nbsp;recognizes his valuable contribution in the field of chemistry as well as his work to bridge the science and technology gap with developing countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/NEWS_Professor-Federico-Rosei-receives-2014-Jose-Vasconcelos-Award_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"493\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt is the first time an INRS professor has been honoured by this international organization, which rewards initiatives to promote the advancement of knowledge with a view to improving understanding and relations among peoples. Through his commitment to research and training that serve the common good,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/federico-rosei\/\">Professor Rosei<\/a>&nbsp;fully contributes to the mission of our university.\u201d <\/p><cite>Yves B\u00e9gin,&nbsp;vice president of research and academic affairs at INRS<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Rosei\u2019s list of accomplishments includes the creation of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/research-centres\/emt\/research-units\/matecss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">UNESCO Chair on&nbsp;<em>Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion, Saving and Storage&nbsp;<\/em><\/a>(MATECSS). As chairholder, he is committed to strengthening North-South and South-South cooperation to ensure access to sustainable energy for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This international prize will be awarded to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/federico-rosei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Professor Rosei<\/a>&nbsp;on November 17, 2014, at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wcc.aalto.fi\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aalto University<\/a>&nbsp;in Finland during its summit on \u201cThe Impact of Universities on Economic Growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jos\u00e9 Vasconcelos Award joins the already impressive list of distinctions received by this representative of the new generation of researchers. The winner of an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/Prizes-Prix\/Steacie-Steacie\/About-Apropos_fra.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/federico-rosei\/\">Professor Rosei<\/a>&nbsp;has received the&nbsp;Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel&nbsp;Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.He is a recipient of theHerzberg Medal and the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsc.ca\/awards_Rutherford_Memorial_Medals_fr.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Rutherford Memorial Medal in Chemistry from the Royal Society of Canada<\/a>, as well as a&nbsp;<em>Fellow<\/em>of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Institute of Physics (UK), the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), the Institute of Materials, Metallurgy and Mining (UK), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), the Institute of Nanotechnology (UK), the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Australian Institute of Physics.
