This election by one\u2019s peers is the highest honor bestowed on a Canadian academic in the arts, letters, and sciences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/NEWS_Professor-Federico-Rosei-named-to-the-Royal-Society-of-Canada_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"469\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Rosei has made a name for himself through his pioneering work on advanced materials, which has enormous technological potential in electronics, photonics, life sciences and energy conversion. Known worldwide for his work on nanomaterials, he is the first person to hold the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/research-chairs-groups-and-networks\/find-research-chairs-groups-and-networks\/unesco-chair-in-materials-and-technologies-for-energy-conversion-saving-and-storage\/\" class=\"broken_link\">UNESCO Chair on Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion, Saving and Storage<\/a>, which fosters scientific exchange with developing countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Professor Rosei will continue to promote scientific knowledge and research for the benefit of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recipient of an NSERC&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/Prizes-Prix\/Steacie-Steacie\/About-Apropos_eng.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship<\/a>, Professor Rosei has earned an excellent national and international reputation, as borne out by the many awards he has received in recent years. These include the 2014&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.consejoculturalmundial.org\/awards-education.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Jos\u00e9 Vasconcelos World Award<\/a>&nbsp;for education, the Award for Excellence in Materials Chemistry from the Canadian Society for Chemistry (2014), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation\u2019s 2011 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award, the 2013 Herzberg Medal from the Canadian Association of Physics, and the Royal Society of Canada\u2019s 2011 Rutherford Memorial Medal in Chemistry. He was elected as Member of the European Academy of Sciences in 2014.
