Both professors are working towards a common goal: using their expertise to develop renewable and sustainable energy technologies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NEWS_Two-INRS-Professors-Earn-Awards-from-Global-Organization_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32635\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NEWS_Two-INRS-Professors-Earn-Awards-from-Global-Organization_01.jpg 640w, https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NEWS_Two-INRS-Professors-Earn-Awards-from-Global-Organization_01-300x117.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><em>Professor Shuhui Sun and Professor Federico Rosei<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/shuhui-sun\/\">Shuhui Sun<\/a>&nbsp;received IUPAC\u2019s Prof. Jiang Novel Materials Youth Prize, awarded every two years to a young researcher who demonstrates outstanding scientific merit. Professor Sun\u2019s research focuses on designing multifunctional nanostructured materials that could be used to produce and store clean and renewable forms of energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His colleague, Professor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/federico-rosei\/\">Federico Rosei<\/a>, who is also the director of the INRS Centre \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications, received IUPAC\u2019s Distinguished Award for Novel Materials and their Synthesis. This prestigious award is a testament to the exceptional nature of his work in novel materials. Most recently, Dr. Rosei\u2019s research has led to important discoveries about the properties of quantum dots and their use in high performance solar panels.Professor Rosei received a second major distinction in the same week, becoming an honorary professor at China\u2019s Qingdao University. It is his fourth honorary professorship in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to both winners for their innovative, important contributions to science!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the IUPAC<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1919, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is the world authority on chemical nomenclature and terminology.
