This distinction recognizes their work in ultrafast molecular imaging and photonic materials development, respectively, as a significant contribution to the advancement of optics and photonics. It reflects their leadership, record of outstanding publications, and the significance and impact of their scientific and technical accomplishments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"223\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/NEWS_Two-INRS-professors-elected-to-OSA-2018-class-of-Fellows_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32496\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/NEWS_Two-INRS-professors-elected-to-OSA-2018-class-of-Fellows_01.jpg 700w, https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/NEWS_Two-INRS-professors-elected-to-OSA-2018-class-of-Fellows_01-300x96.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission to the class is highly selective and competitive, especially considering that the total number of fellows may not exceed 10% of global OSA membership. In 2018 the distinction was awarded to 101 researchers from 19 countries. Only five Canadians made the list, including Prof.s L\u00e9gar\u00e9 and Rosei from INRS.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. L\u00e9gar\u00e9 will be honoured at the May 2018\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleoconference.org\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO)<\/a>\u00a0in San Jose (California). Dr. Rosei will be officially received as Fellow at a 2018 OSA conference or meeting to be announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. L\u00e9gar\u00e9 and Dr. Rosei were also recently named\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dev.inrs.ca\/english\/actualites\/three-inrs-professors-selected-senior-members-optical-society\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">senior members<\/a>\u00a0by the OSA.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to the new OSA Fellows\u2014both for this honour and for their outstanding work!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INRS professors Fran\u00e7ois L\u00e9gar\u00e9 and Federico Rosei of the Centre \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications have been elected Fellows of the Optical Society (OSA).
