Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) and Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Trois-Rivi\u00e8res (UQTR) have joined forces to set up a joint research unit (UMR) focused on the development of advanced materials and technologies for a low-carbon economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

UQTR is actively involved in the Electrification and Climate Change Plan (PECC) in Qu\u00e9bec and has gained international recognition for the important facilities it has developed to foster energy transition. The work that its Hydrogen Research Institute (IRH) and Innovations Institute in Ecomaterials, Ecoproducts, and Ecoenergies (I2E3) has done in this regard is a case in point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for INRS, its \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre<\/a> in Varennes and Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre<\/a> in Qu\u00e9bec City are world-class facilities without peer in Canada that bring together one of the world\u2019s largest critical masses of scientists specialized in the development of advanced materials and green technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By bringing together this high level of complementary expertise, the UMR will further strengthen the Mauricie and Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec regions as centres of excellence in the area of energy transition, particularly as they tackle issues of energy storage and conversion and greenhouse gas valorization.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Development of the INRS-UQAR Joint Research Unit in Energy Transition was made possible thanks to initial funding of $3 million from the Government of Qu\u00e9bec.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This funding by Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur<\/a> will make it possible to create two professorships at the INRS \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre<\/a> and one professorship at the INRS Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These professors will work as part of the UMR from the UQTR<\/a> in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. The UMR\u2019s mission is to conduct multidisciplinary graduate-level research and educational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
