The Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) and Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec en Outaouais (UQO) are developing a joint research unit (UMR) in cybersecurity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

At INRS, the \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre<\/a> brings together a number of world-renowned telecommunications experts who specialize in the development of digital technologies and other fields. The creation of this UMR reflects INRS\u2019s desire to be a leader in this strategic field of research. UQO has been active in the field of cybersecurity for 20 years with its computer security research lab and offers cybersecurity training with a graduate program aimed at professionals or people looking to improve their knowledge of the various aspects of cybersecurity. UQO plans to build on its educational offering in the near future with new bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s programs in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital security issues are of paramount importance, and cybersecurity needs are growing exponentially. This project is part of a regional plan to develop a critical mass of researchers and qualified workers to better respond to the political, strategic, and economic issues related to information systems integrity locally in Outaouais and across Qu\u00e9bec and the rest of Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Joint Research Unit in Cybersecurity will provide the Outaouais region with a new cohort of scientists specialized in this priority field for Qu\u00e9bec and help create promising partnerships with many economic players.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Development of the INRS-UQO Joint Research Unit in Cybersecurity was made possible thanks to initial funding of $3 million from the Government of Qu\u00e9bec.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This funding by Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur<\/a> will make it possible to create three professorships at INRS’s \u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These professors will work as part of the UMR from UQO\u2019s<\/a>, in Gatineau. The UMR\u2019s mission is to conduct multidisciplinary graduate-level research and educational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
