The Canada Research Chair in Computational Materials Design for Energy and Environmental Applications aims to create and develop sustainable technological solutions from low-cost materials with improved efficiency to solve problems affecting the energy and environmental sectors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kulbir Kaur Ghuman<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Many of the sustainable technologies developed to tackle today\u2019s energy and environmental concerns rely on rare and expensive materials, hampering their commercial viability. Professor Kulbir Ghuman and her research team hope to enable the use of abundant and cheaper materials by improving their performance, specifically in catalysis and fuel cell applications. This is challenging because these materials are often \u201cdisordered,\u201d and their fundamental properties are not well-understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ghuman and her team are using advanced computational techniques to study disorder in these materials, supporting their use in the sustainable technologies of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research conducted through this Chair will help develop a pool of talent in sustainable digital energy, which is a cornerstone of Canada\u2019s clean technology sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
