This procedure applies to the entire INRS community and in all research and training centres.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>As soon as you hear the alarm or an evacuation order is given, quickly vacate the premises<\/strong>.<ul><li>Stay calm<\/li><li>Do not run<\/li><li>Do not return to your station to retrieve your personal belongings<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Use the nearest emergency exit to leave the building.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"banner-text\">\n    <div class=\"inner\">\n        Take the stairs\u2014never use elevators.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before entering a hallway or stairwell, make sure it\u2019s safe.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Check :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If the door is hot (with the back of your hand)<\/li><li>If you can feel heat coming from that direction<\/li><li>For smoke or gas (odour)<\/li><li>If the exit is flooded<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>When faced with one of these scenarios, make your way to another emergency exit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If there\u2019s a lot of smoke, duck or crawl.<\/li><li>Immediately proceed to the nearest assembly point.<\/li><li>Stay at the assembly point and wait for the safety officer\u2019s permission before re-entering the building.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"banner-text\">\n    <div class=\"inner\">\n        Never enter a building when the fire alarm is active.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where appropriate and if it can be done safely:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Move or evacuate anyone in your vicinity<\/li><li>Turn off ventilation equipment (chemical fume hood, biosafety cabinet, etc.) and lab equipment (hot plate, oven, gas cylinder, etc.) and exit the room, closing the doors behind you<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you cannot safely evacuate the premises:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Stay down to avoid inhaling smoke or toxic fumes<\/li><li>Take shelter in a closed room<\/li><li>Close all doors and windows<\/li><li>Seal the gaps around the doors<\/li><li>If there are windows, signal your presence<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"banner-text\">\n    <div class=\"inner\">\n        Never return to an evacuated building.\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Considering that you may one day have to evacuate the premises due to an emergency, you should learn the evacuation procedure.
