It\u2019s important to know what makes a package suspicious.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here are the things to watch for:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unknown or missing return address<\/li><li>Unusual odour or sound<\/li><li>Protruding wires<\/li><li>Too much postage (stamps and\/or postmarks)<\/li><li>Spelling mistakes, badly typed or written address<\/li><li>Addressed to recipient by title only (e.g., \u201cPresident\u201d)<\/li><li>Special handling instructions (such as \u201cDo not X-ray\u201d)<\/li><li>Rigid or bulky envelope<\/li><li>Unusual or uneven shape<\/li><li>Excessive wrapping, tape, or string. Discolouration, oily stains, or crystallization on the outside<\/li><li>Contents leaking<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-100 is-style-small\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-lighter-color has-text-color\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canadapost.ca\/web\/fr\/kb\/details.page?article=what_to_do_if_you_ge&amp;cattype=kb&amp;cat=security&amp;subcat=generalinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See Canada Post\u2019s instructions on what to do with a suspicious letter or package<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"banner-text\">\n    <div class=\"inner\">\n        Remember to ensure your own safety first before trying to help others\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>If you see a suspicious letter or package:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Do not handle, shake, or smell it. If you touched the item, keep your hands away from your mouth.<\/li><li>Do not use a cell phone or two-way radio in the vicinity of the package.<\/li><li>Notify Security and be ready to provide the following information:<ul><li>Where the package is (building, room) and its exact location in the room<\/li><li>Description of the package<\/li><li>Your name and a telephone number where you can be reached<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"4\"><li>If you can do so safely, isolate the item, e.g., by putting an upside-down waste bin over top of it. The package must not touch anything.<\/li><li>Memorize what the item looks like so you can describe it later (do NOT take a photo with your smartphone).<\/li><li><strong>Evacuate the area:<\/strong><ul><li>Do not pull the manual fire alarm<\/li><li>Tell everyone in the immediate area to evacuate and take their personal belongings (briefcase, purse, lunchbox, car keys, etc.) with them<\/li><li>Evacuate with everyone else<\/li><li>As you leave, look for any packages along the exit route or in places they shouldn\u2019t be (e.g.,&nbsp; behind a door, in a stairwell, near an exit door, etc.). If you see a package, notify everyone in the immediate area, retrace your steps, use a different exit route, and call Security as soon as you can to report the package.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>If you open a suspicious package:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Stop handling it immediately.<\/li><li>Do not move it.<\/li><li>Leave the room and isolate yourself from other people to avoid any risk of contamination.<\/li><li>Wash your hands with soap.<\/li><li>Do not use a cell phone or two-way radio in the vicinity of the package.<\/li><li>Call Security.<\/li><li>Wait in a safe location for response teams, police, or fire fighters to arrive.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>If the package explodes:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Avoid activating any device or system that could produce a spark in the area of the explosion (cell phone, electrical switch or appliance, manual fire alarm, etc.).<\/li><li>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/emergency-procedures\/evacuation-procedure\/\">evacuation procedure<\/a>.<\/li><li>Quickly leave the building and go to the nearest meeting point. Wait there for further instructions.<\/li><li>If objects are falling from shelves or the ceiling, shelter under a desk or table until the danger has passed.<\/li><li>The police, emergency personnel, and public health officials will tell you what to do next.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La prudence est toujours de mise si vous croyez qu\u2019un colis est suspect.
