The influence of our faculty and students extends around the world. In partnership with the community as well as the industry, we are proud to contribute to the development of society through our discoveries and through the training we provide to a new generation of scientific, social, and technological innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centre Armand-Frappier Sant\u00e9 Biotechnologie (AFSB) of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of epidemiology. This position is open to all research themes although particular interest may be in the areas of infectious diseases as well as the study of the effects of the environment on health. Regardless of the methodological approaches used, the results should have a strong potential for knowledge transfer. In this sense, the person sought must be able to establish an autonomous, competitive and innovative funding program (grants and sponsorships), and to participate in graduate training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centre AFSB offers a stimulating environment in which around fifty professors-researchers carry out research and offer cutting-edge training in various themes, particularly in the study of infections and immunity, the influence of environmental factors and heredity on the development of diseases, the development of new therapeutic and prophylactic agents and the exploitation of microorganisms for the development of biotechnologies. The recruited person will join the epidemiology and biostatistics team, a dynamic and growing group that currently has two research professors and ten research professionals and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main duties and responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Develop an original and innovative research program related to the previous description;<\/li><li>Work collaboratively with existing research teams and develop and maintain partnerships with groups outside the Centre AFSB;<\/li><li>Secure extramural funding (from provincial and federal agencies and also involving various partners from public and private sectors whenever needed \/ pertinent);<\/li><li>Teach and supervise graduate students (both M.Sc. and Ph.D. students), and supervise postdoctoral fellows and research staff.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hold a doctorate in epidemiology or the equivalent and have postdoctoral experience in a relevant discipline;<\/li><li>Hold an exceptional record of research achievements demonstrating autonomy and originality that will allow the successful development of a solid and independent research program;<\/li><li>Possess technical and academic expertise that is complementary to the Centre AFSB (<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/research\/research-themes\/environmental-toxicology-and-epidemiology\/\">Environmental Toxicology and Epidemiology | Research Themes | INRS<\/a>);<\/li><li>Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and networks while collaborating with representatives of clinical, government and public health partners.<\/li><li>Aptitude for fundamental and applied research, as well as multidisciplinary teaching and mentoring at the master and doctorate levels;<\/li><li>Entrepreneurial qualities and demonstrated ability to secure research funding from granting agencies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>French is the working language of the Institute. Fluency in English is required.<br>Candidates whose native language is not French are encouraged to apply.
