The purpose of the position is to respond to societal and scientific needs to decarbonize the economy and fight climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful candidate will be part of the joint <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/la-recherche\/unites-mixtes-de-recherche\/\">research unit <\/a>at UQTR and will report to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/inrs\/research-centres\/eau-terre-environnement-research-centre\/\">Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre<\/a> faculty council. The joint <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/la-recherche\/unites-mixtes-de-recherche\/\">research unit<\/a> will include other professors associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.inrs.ca\/en\/inrs\/research-centres\/energie-materiaux-telecommunications-research-centre\/\">\u00c9nergie Mat\u00e9riaux T\u00e9l\u00e9communications Research Centre<\/a>. The new hire will participate in a multidisciplinary environment with UQTR\u2019s various entities (IRH, I2E3) and the research community in Mauricie and Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec (CCTT and industry). It will be an opportunity to play an active role in the development of a unique new research facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main duties and responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Establish an innovative carbon capture and utilization research program that is competitive, self-sustaining, well funded through grants and sponsorships, and focused on one or more of the following topics:<ul><li>Developing carbon capture knowledge and technology using innovations in related fields (materials and energy);<\/li><li>Integrating carbon capture technology into industrial ecosystems and more generally across Qu\u00e9bec and Canada;<\/li><li>Capturing carbon through physico-chemical, biochemical, and\/or biological means and creating products for mature, niche, or disruptive markets;<\/li><li>Working in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, engineering, or other related sciences.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Participate in education and training activities, particularly as part of the centre\u2019s graduate programs, and in the supervision of students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff;<\/li><li>Raise the profile of INRS both domestically and internationally.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PhD in a relevant field;<\/li><li>Strong record of scientific production that demonstrates initiative and originality of thought;<\/li><li>Demonstrated entrepreneurial abilities needed to fund research;<\/li><li>Aptitude for multidisciplinary teaching and graduate student supervision;<\/li><li>Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and networks;<\/li><li>Experience or expertise in lifecycle analysis would be a plus.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The working language is French. Functional fluency in English is crucial.<br>Candidates whose native language is not French are encouraged to apply.
